This is my favorite and most used mallet.
It was sooo easy to make!
The original material was a 2 1/2” pallet or bunker material, red oak as far as I can tell.
No lathe used, the handle was defined with spokeshaves , rasps and sandpaper.
You can still see all of the grove put there for the strapping for the bundle of whatever.
It is very similar to the leather stamping mallet my dad used for tooling his saddles, belts etc.
The balance is perfect for me and I can both gently tap are give a big whack as needed.
